MRD offers a variety of different activities and weekly cultural, recreational and/or educational tours. Click on each tab to see a listing of activities/tours offered at this time.

In case of inclement weather, trips will be rescheduled if at all possible. Participants will be notified of any date changes. A full refund will be issued if a trip cannot be rescheduled.
Premier World Discovery

We will journey to the 31st annual Ouray Ice Festival and watch epic ice climbers from around the world compete. This festival is a favorite of top ice climbers. Participants must be comfortable on icy surfaces.

Learn about the Producer’s Co-Op which was established over 90 years ago, and is owned and operated by 1600 people who live and work in our community. We will then tour the Association, which is located in the Historic Potato Growers building and features spirits from local producers, has a varied group of food vendors, and hosts special events.

The Creamery, originally opened in 1939 stands as a dynamic nonprofit hub which is home to over 60 local artists and authors. Third Bowl Ice Cream is made in small batches and crafted from scratch in Hotchkiss using as many organic and locally sourced ingredients as possible.

This 3 mile out and back trail is located on the Colorado River Trail near Grand Junction. This trail is rated easy and provides great bird watching opportunities

This hike will combine 3 different trails; the Canyon Rim, Window Rock, and Alcove Nature Trail, for a total of approximately 3 miles. These trails are rated easy, with uneven surfaces.

The McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area is located near Fruita. This hike will combine Snooks Bottom Trail(rated easy), and Opal Hill trail (rated moderate) for a total of approximately 3 miles. Opal Hill received its name due to the opals from opalized wood that has been found in the area.
