Gene grew up in Montrose and sees many positive benefits that the MRD offers this community. Gene loves the MRD team environment, which is much different than the corporate environment that he previously worked in. He has worked for the MRD for many years and started as a Manager on Duty, then was promoted to Facility Leader, and then to Fitness Leader.  As Fitness Leader, he organizes and oversees classes and instructors, helps patrons, and ensures the equipment is functioning. He works hard to balance the needs and wants of patrons with the availability of instructors. He tries to provide a wide spectrum of fitness options. Gene has three kids and he and his wife enjoy spending time as a family.  In his off time, he loves coaching basketball and LaCrosse, fishing, boating and hunting with his boys.
