Morrow Point Dam Guided Tour 

Morrow Point Dam is 468 foot-tall concrete double-arch dam on the Gunnison River located at 7100 ft. elevation. This is a 2-3 hour tour. It is not advised to take this tour if you are unable to walk or hike up and down multiple stairs and ramps or go long distances on your own.

Storm King Distilling CO. and Silver Basin Brewing - Montrose 

Come learn the process for making award winning whiskey. Storm King’s Side Gig Blend was awarded the Best American Whiskey at the 2023 World Whiskies Awards. We will eat and sample brews at Silver Basin Brewing.

Hotchkiss Sheep Camp Stock Dog Trials 

The competition includes dogs guiding the sheep through several obstacles, collecting them in and out of the pen, separating the sheep from the flock, etc. The judge evaluates the accuracy of the dog's work under the guidance of its handler. There are also vendors, a car show, and yard sales taking place.

The Yard Family Fun Center - Delta 

The Yard Family Fun Center – Delta
Mini golf anyone? We will have a fun day playing miniature golf and using the batting cages. We will have lunch on site at AJ’s Pizzeria (formerly Panny’s Pizzeria in Ridgway).The Yard is under new ownership with plans for a 12,000 sq. foot expansion. Let’s go and see what they’ve got planned!

Mike the Headless Chicken Festival - Fruita 

Every year, people flock to downtown Fruita to celebrate the life of a world-famous headless chicken named Mike. There will be food vendors, artisans, live music, 5k run, car show, free backyard games, disc golf, and wing and peep eating contests.

Nucla Main Street Walking Tour plus New Rimrocker Museum 

Nucla was the vision of hearty colonists who set out to build a cooperative community, a utopia. A 17 mile ditch had to be built to supply water to the community. Take a walking tour on Main Steet, tour the museum, and have lunch at Saucy Mama’s food truck.

Gunnison Tunnel - Black Canyon National Park 

We will learn about the history of the Gunnison Tunnel that was dedicated in 1909. The 5.8 mile tunnel takes water from the Gunnison River and brings it to Montrose. We will also stop at the visitor center and at a few overlooks.

Solar Energy International Paonia 

Solar Energy International’s (SEI) focus is to train the global solar energy workforce. They deliver hands-on experience, safety, and technical skills solar training. They equip utilities with the skills to operate large-scale solar farms, and help people access solar energy for the first time. We will learn about SEI while touring their Paonia campus.

Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) Tour - Gothic 

Our interpretive guide will take us on a walking tour of the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory to learn about the silver mining history of Gothic (1879-1895); the scientific research that has been conducted over the last 95 years (1928-present); and discuss the blooming plants that make Crested Butte "the Wildflower Capital of Colorado"

Winery Tours and Tasting - Paonia 

We will tour Alfred Eames Cellars’ wine cellar and then taste Alfred Eames wines at Zen Zen Gardens tasting room. We will also taste at 5680 Vineyards and Black Bridge Winery.

Active Adult Hikes

Fruit Growers Reservoir; Surface Creek Hike – Cedaredge 

We will look for migrating Sandhill Cranes at the reservoir and then take the local 2.5 mi RT hike that follow Surface Creek. Lunch at Lost Mesa Grill.

Echo Canyon - Colorado National Monument 

This canyon has a shady interior and ends at a pool beneath towering cottonwood trees. The box canyon does produce a reverberating echo. Elevation: 4,990 to 5,069 ft.; Mileage: 3 mi RT; Difficulty Level: Easy to moderate

Currecanti Creek Trail 

After descending from the high rim of the Upper Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the trail follows Curecanti Creek as it falls toward Morrow Point Reservoir. The Curecanti Needle, a 700 ft. granite spire, towers above at the trail's end. Elevation: 7142 -8033 - 900’ elevation change, ~4mi RT; Difficulty Level: Moderate to strenuous.

Mesa Top Trail - Grand Mesa 

We will travel through groves of aspen, spruce/fir and open meadows. After 1 mile, we will reach the southern edge of the Grand Mesa where the trail continues along the rim. Elevation: 10,018 to 10,733 ft.; Difficulty Level: Moderate. We will hike about 4-5 miles RT out and back. Bring bug spray.

Jud Weibe - Telluride 

We will take in great panoramas of Telluride while walking through conifer forests and aspen groves on this short (3.2 mi loop) but steep trail. Wildflowers bloom beautifully along this hike Elevation: 8,900 – 10,000 ft.; elevation gain: 1,100 ft.; Difficulty Level: Moderate – strenuous.

Active Adult Rafting and Jeep Trips

Scenic Rafting - Pleasure Park to Austin 

This 8 mile, half day trip is a relaxing float with scenic views of the rock canyon walls and desert ecology. Enjoy bird watching and maybe even some wildlife viewing. We will take a short hike to the Eagle Rock Shelter archaeological site which dates back 13,000 years.

Ophir Pass/Alta Ghost Town with Telluride Outside's Guides 

Ophir pass road includes some classic "shelf road" sections with stunning views. Alta Ghost Town is one of the best-preserved ghost towns in Colorado. This tour provides some of Telluride's best wildflower viewing. This is a high altitude, 4 wheel drive tour. Ophir Pass (11,789 ft.) /Alta Ghost Town (11,000 ft.)

Tomboy/Imogene Pass with Telluride Outside's Guides 

Tomboy Road climbs to Imogene Pass from downtown Telluride to a summit of 13,114 feet. Enjoy the thrill of high country adventure and the colorful history of Telluride's most famous gold mine: Tomboy. This is a high altitude, 4 wheel drive tour.
