Each July, communities across the country come together to celebrate the power of parks and recreation — and this year marks the 40th anniversary of Park and Recreation Month! Montrose Recreation District is joining in the fun with a series of free community cookouts and events across our facilities and parks. Come celebrate with us!

Wednesday, July 9 — FlexRec
• Free admission from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Free “Workout of the Day” with Zan at 12:00 & 12:45 PM
• Free hot dogs from 12:00 – 1:30 PM
Tuesday, July 15 — Field House & McNeil Park
• Field House: Free admission from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Free hot dogs from 12:00 – 1:30 PM
• McNeil Park: Free hot dogs from 6:15 – 7:45 PM
Wednesday, July 16 — Senior Center
• Senior Center at the Pavilion: Free hot dogs from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Tuesday, July 22 — Community Recreation Center (CRC) & Ute Park
• Free admission from 12:00 – 8:00 PM
• Free hot dogs from 12:00 – 1:30 PM
• Ute Park: Free hot dogs from 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Why We Celebrate
Park and Recreation Month is a national celebration recognizing the vital role that parks, facilities, and recreation programs play in building healthy, connected communities. This year’s theme — “Build Together, Play Together” — highlights the impact of more than 160,000 park professionals across the country who help create spaces where everyone can thrive.
