MRD Climbing Wall Certifications
Interested in climbing outside supervised hours? Complete a skills check with our staff to earn your MRD Climbing Certification. Must be at least 15 years old to obtain a certification tag.
Certification is $24 and is valid for two years. It includes:
- Access to the wall when the CRC is open (87+ hours/week)
- Climbing with up to 2 non-certified climbers under your supervision
To earn this certification, you’ll need to show that you can safely put on a harness, clip into the autobelay, and descend on it. Once certified, you can climb independently using the autobelay—perfect for new climbers!
Grants access to top-rope routes, expanding the number of climbs you can attempt. With a partner, you’ll need to demonstrate tying a figure-8 and safety knot, belaying correctly, and performing verbal safety checks on both the autobelay and tie-in systems.
Grants access to lead climbing on walls equipped with hangers and quickdraws. Ideal for climbers preparing to climb outdoors. Participants must demonstrate proper lead belay and climbing techniques, including catching and taking a lead fall. A partner is required to take the test with you.
