Fly Fishing Classes

These classes are for beginners or those new to the sport who want to learn more.  Classes include fly tying, casting and an introductory class.  All classes are taught by the instructors at Ed's Fly Shop.

Fly Fishing Casting Clinic (Age 8 - Adult) 

Students will be trying out various rods (every rod will cast differently) to learn the basic casts in fly fishing. We will practice 4 different casts and learn appropriate situations in which to use them.

Youth Beginning Fly Tying Class (Age 8 - 13) 

Our kid’s class is designed for the ultra-beginner fly-tier looking to tie their own flies. We will teach you to tie nymphs, dry flies, and streamers and about the tools and materials to use. All materials and equipment provided. Our intention is that kids walk away with the knowledge and experience required to tie basic fly patterns.

Beginner Fly Tying Class (Age 13 - Adult) 

This class is designed for the beginner fly-tier looking to tie their own flies. We will teach you to tie nymphs, dry flies, and streamers and about the tools and materials to use. All supplies and equipment are provided. No experience is necessary. Our intention is that you walk away with the knowledge and experience required to tie basic fly patterns.

Intro to Fly Fishing (Age 13 - Adult) 

If you are interested in learning to fly fish this is the class for you. We  will learn about equipment, knot tying, entomology and casting. You will also be comfortable using fly fishing terminology, be able to tie your flies onto your line, understand which fly to match to the emerging insects, and understand all the different types of casts and when to use them.

  • Days: Monday, May 1, 8, 15 and Saturday, May 13
