Parent Child Yoga
Our bodies will take the shapes of lions and butterflies as we move and play together. Yoga is a fun way to exercise our muscles and to relax. While our focus will be on having fun and even being silly, the benefits to our children are many, from developing strong, flexible and healthy bodies to building self-esteem and confidence to increasing concentration and focus. Cardio Kickboxing
Cardio Kickboxing is a fun high-energy workout that helps reduce stress and increase you self-confidence. This full body workout combines the kicks of martial arts and the punches of boxing, tightening, toning and firming your whole body, while burning a tremendous amount of fat in each workout. All levels are welcome, participants will need to bring a workout mat, water bottle and a towel.

Shito Ryu Karate Class
Shito Ryu Karate is a traditional Japanese style martial art. This class focuses on three main areas of physical ability: Basics (blocks, punches, kicks), Kata (forms) and Sparring. Karate strengthens the spirit and promotes self-discipline and confidence. It also increases strength, balance, speed, power and coordination, which are all needed for good self-defense. Sensei Damon Pace is a 2nd degree black belt. This class is celebrating its 2nd year anniversary with the Montrose Recreation District. Students are able to test for rank every 3 or 6 months.

Kids & Family Open Climbing Wall
Children will have fun challenging themselves and learning the tricks of rock climbing in a safe and supervised environment. A supervisor is on site each Thursday night to help with gear and technical tips. Parents are required to assist their kids with harnessing and belaying, and maybe even try the wall themselves! (NO CHARGE to assist your child)

Toddler Time
Toddler time is a FUN approach to exploration and discovery that young children and their parents can enjoy together. A variety of developmentally appropriate activities are offered each week. They involve lots of music, movement, and messy “stuff”! Enrollment is limited to provide quality experiences for toddlers and their grown-ups. Designed for toddlers ages 18 through 36 months.

Infant Massage
Infants greatly benefit from massage, you will learn different touching techniques to help relieve stress, enhance body awareness and most importantly, deepen the bond and attachment between you and your child. Dirtbike Course
Motorcycling in the dirt, just clean family fun! Participants start with proper bike selection, sitting on the bike, learning the controls, and straight line riding. Riders then progress to learn to ride circles, make sharp turns and how to ride hills. There are additional exercises and drills for more experienced riders. Helmets and dirt bikes are provided.

Basic Motorcycle Rider Course sm
This course is designed for anyone who has never had a formal rider course. Level 1 provides the foundational knowledge and skill required for entry-level motorcyclists. In Level 2, you will refine the basics and get into emergency swerving and braking maneuvers. Motorcycles and helmets are provided. A Colorado driver’s License or permit is required, motorcycle endorsement is not required. You must be able to ride and balance a bicycle. Participants need to provide a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, long pants, full-fingered gloves, eye protection, and over the ankle boots. 100% attendance is mandatory; space is limited to 12/class. Experienced Motorcycle Rider Course
Course is for those who have a motorcycle endorsement and have a minimum of 3,000 miles of recent riding experience. You will use your own bike. Country Western Dance
Sign up now for this 8 week class, offering a variety of Country Western Dances. Classes will begin with the Electric Slide and the Country Three Step with some basic turns. Other dances inlcude the Barn Dance, a Mixer, Country Waltz, cotton-Eyed Joe and Scottish. Instructor, Bob Gilbert, has over 14 years of teaching experience. Class is designed to give the student a strong background in the basics. All students are encouraged to wear leather soled shoes or boots. You may register as a couple or single.

Daddy Daughter Dance
Share a special evening with that young lady in your life! Mountain Bike Skills for Adults
Laurie Brandt, a former Professional Mountain Bike Racer, will teach techniques that allow the rider to “finesse” the bike on the trail. Learn how to use body English and understand the dynamics of weight distribution and bike movement. Participants start on grass, practicing balance, slow speed control, braking, “riding like a cat”, and falling safely. Then advance to Sunset Mesa trails to apply your new techniques and skills. In addition to bringing your own mountain bike in good working order, also have snacks, fluids, spare tube, pump, helmet, riding clothes and a jacket.

Mountain Bike Skills for Kids
Two-hour session is for the budding mountain biker who wants to learn how to balance, brake, shift, pick a line, and ride over low obstacles. Start in the park on grass and develop basic skills, including slow speed control and lifting wheels. Progress to easy dirt trails on Sunset Mesa. Bring a bike in good working order, preferably a mountain bike, but a BMX bike with hand brakes is acceptable. Also bring appropriate riding clothes, jacket, water, snacks, helmet, gloves, and Camelbak or small daypack. Parents are encouraged to attend the entire clinic if they also register.

Bike Maintenance
Learn how to keep your bike in great working condition and how to fix the typical mechanical problems. Bring your own road or mountain bike and learn how to remove and re-attach wheels, fix flats, true a wheel, replace a chain, fix a dropped chain and much more. Participants should bring a bike, rags, tire levers, spare tube, patch kit, spoke wrench, Allen wrenches (4, 5, 6 mm), and a small screwdriver (both Phillips and flathead). This class will be outdoors, so dress for the weather.

Road Bike Skills
This clinic is for the road bike rider who wants to refine skills like pedalling efficiency, cornering, climbing, proper shifting (upshifting, downshifting, and double shifting), descending, riding through loose material, riding safely in a group, riding a straight line, and braking. We will also discuss group riding etiquette, bike fit, basic sports nutrition, and equipment and clothing options. Start in Baldridge Park and work on bike handling skills, then ride on local rural roads to practice pack riding and other specific techniques listed above. In addition to bringing your own road bike in good working order, also have snacks, fluids, spare tube, pump, helmet, riding clothes and a jacket.

Winter Woods Hike
Winter hiking in the many wooded areas near our town. Experience these areas in their winter coats of ice and snow for a truly exhilarating and unique guided tour. Have your cameras for wildlife viewing opportunities and wear appropriate winter clothing and boots. Then return to town to soak in the hot tub or therapy pool. A great family adventure, transportation and pool entrance fees included. Space is limited; register early. Each participant should bring their own day pack with lunch, water, sun screen and snack. Nordic Walking
Take your winter walking to the next level by joining the Nordic Walking session. Learn about this new form of light exercise that is rapidly growing in popularity. Designed for complete body toning you will use ski poles and walk on packed trails for a brisk workout. Hot chocolate, goodies and cool down follows walk. Learn winter walking techniques while experiencing nature and the outdoors in the alpenglow. Yaktrax or snow shoes are welcome. Please bring your own ski poles and head lamps or flash lights. Class duration depends on daylight, participants abilities, and weather conditions.

Cross Country Ski Lessons
Lessons are designed for children ages 9 - 14 or 15 - 18. Prior cross country ski experience is not required. Practice sessions will be approximately two hours and locations will vary on Grand Mesa. Lessons will create an atmosphere that reinforces high self esteem, motivation, physical fitness, fun and sportsmanship. Participants need their own ski equipment: classic and skate skis, boots and poles. Ski equipment packages are available for $275. Parents are responsible for getting participants to ski sites and should check the website, http://gmgliders.blogspot.com or call Coach Annie’s hotline, 970-623-4424, the night before each lesson to find out which trail head to meet at.

Model Airplane Building & Flying
Participants will construct their own rubber powered balsa wood model airplane. Construction will involve some minimal use of knives or razor blades and instant glue. Parental involvement for younger students is suggested. Construction will be followed by learning to adjust and fly their project airplane. Flying will take place outdoors, so please bring clothing for cold weather and possible snow cover. Aircraft kits, glue, and other materials will be provided. In the event of inclement weather, outdoor flying will be rescheduled. Students will learn the basic use of tools, how to follow written instructions, the basic physics of flight, and how to get the most performance out of their airplane.
