Description: The Montrose Recreation District is seeking an energetic, self-starting program director for its Parent and Toddler Groups.  Individual must have experience working with very young children (18 months – 3 years of age), and their parents or caregivers.  This person is responsible for planning and directing a variety of activities for toddlers and adults, focusing on materials and activities that are developmentally appropriate, and encourage adult/child interaction.  Experience with music and movement for this age level is an asset.  Desirable qualifications include Early Childhood Training and First Aid/CPR.  Number of hours for the programs are 4 – 6 hours per week.  Submit application and resume to nluecker@montrose.net.  Applications are accepted through September 12, 2008 or until position is filled. Lifeguard

Pay Range: $8.00 - $10.50 per hour

General Statement of Duties: Under general direction, performs monitoring activities in the Aquatic Center to prevent accidents, to assist participants and to monitor the safety of patrons. Responds to emergencies or incidents that could result in an unsafe situation in the Aquatic Center.
Essential Duties: The following duties are intended to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive: Scans the entire aquatic complex and monitors patron behavior for safe and appropriate activity.Promptly, courteously and consistently enforces pool regulations and policies and communicates with patrons about safety rules, guidelines and policies. Patrols related areas (concession area, therapy pool, hot tub, deck, water slides, etc.) for proper usage.  Responds quickly and effectively to all emergency situations, identifies and appropriately responds to water emergencies, distress situations, accidents, and improper conduct situations. Performs routine minor preventative maintenance and cleaning. Examples include: sweeping and hosing decks, cleans stainless steel, washes windows, scrubs pool tiles, organizing storage areas and cleaning the locker rooms. Maintains and cleans other equipment as assigned.  Attends staff meetings and in-service training sessions and attends re-certification training courses. Schedule can include early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.  Performs other duties as assigned.
Certifications Required:  American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR, & First Aid required. 

Swim Aide

Assists with the teaching or leading students of all levels and abilities in beginning to advanced level courses in swimming and water safety skills. Assists with monitoring activities in the Aquatic Center to prevent accidents, assist participants and monitor the safety of patrons.

Water Safety Instructor

General Statement of Duties: Under general direction, performs work in teaching or leading students of all levels and abilities in beginning to advanced level courses in swimming and water safety skills. Essential Duties: The following duties are intended to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive:Teaches classes of all levels of students in the correct application of swimming skills, for example group lessons, private/semi-private lessons, WSI Aide, etc.  Assures the safety of all students at all times with ages ranging from 6 months through adult and including special needs, senior and challenged participants.  Provides instruction, demonstrations, drills and practice to help build skills, confidence and security in the water. Participant progress and satisfaction measured against American Red Cross levels, participant evaluations and staff evaluation and monitoring by supervisors. Prepares lesson plans; takes attendance; maintains records of clients activities and progress and prepares certificates. Schedule can include early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.  Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification Required:American Red Cross (ARC) Water Safety Instructor, CPR, & First Aid required. Additional Certification in the Aquatics field is desirable. Examples include: ARC Lifeguard Training, ARC Lifeguard Training Instructor,ARC CPR & First Aid Instructor, Aquatic Fitness Instructor. Successfully complete a criminal background check. Possession of valid Colorado Driver’s License.

No experience necessary. We offer free officials clinics for many of our leagues, and if you are new to the sport you can start with the younger children and work your way up.
